The studio operates across three kinds of commission — acquisitions, experiences, gifts. What unites them is the portrait they're briefed against, and a curator who won't bring something that doesn't fit.
The makers Ruwa works with are spread across studios, workshops, and galleries — established names alongside people whose work you'd never find without knowing where to look. Some are commission-only. Some work in editions of six. All are chosen because of how well they match the portrait, not because of where they sit in the market. A brief sets the parameters — what you're looking for, the timeline, the budget. The portrait does the rest. Whether it already exists or needs to be made, a curator finds what's right — and knows its worth. Everything sourced is held in your acquisition register: what was considered, what was acquired, and what the portrait says should come next.
Every experience Ruwa builds begins with a brief — the occasion, who it's for, how you like to move through the world. The portrait fills in what the brief doesn't need to say. A weekend in the Barossa, assembled around your palate and pace. A studio visit with a ceramicist in Sydney, a piece made for you while you're there. A journey for one, two, or a gathering for a group with specific tastes and no patience for the generic.
Your curator knows the difference between what's worth it and what's been found by everyone else. Everything else is handled.
