Ruwa is operated from Australia. This page sets out how we collect, use, and store the information you share with us when you begin a portrait, enquire about Atelier, commission through Ruwa, or write to the studio. We've kept it short and plain.
When you begin a portrait, we collect what you choose to share — your name, your email, the contents of your reflective answers, and anything you note about people you already work with or what's currently on your mind. You decide how much to share; every prompt beyond your name and email is optional.
When you enquire about Atelier or write to the studio, we hold the contents of your message and your email address.
When you commission a gift, an acquisition, or an experience, we collect the details of your brief — what you're after, the occasion, your budget, the recipient's details if relevant, and your contact details for billing and follow-up.
We use what you share to do what you've asked us to do — read your portrait, return with directions, source what's right, arrange logistics, and stay in touch through the work. We use your contact details to confirm enquiries and to write back when something needs clarifying. We do not sell your information.
The services that handle your information on our behalf see only what they need to: Formspree receives form submissions, Cloudflare hosts this site and provides security, and our email provider holds correspondence between us. Payment for memberships and commissions is handled by direct invoice or by a secure payment link issued through Stripe; Stripe handles card details directly, and we never see or store them.
When we commission something through a maker, supplier, or partner, we share with them only what they need to fulfil it — usually a name, a delivery address, a phone number for coordination, and any details from your brief that bear on the work itself.
Your portrait stays with Ruwa. Makers receive a brief shaped by your sensibility; they do not see your portrait, your reflective answers, or any record of other commissions.
Records of enquiries and commissions are retained for seven years to meet Australian tax and consumer-law obligations. Portraits are held for as long as your relationship with Ruwa is active, and deleted on request. You can ask us to delete your information at any time by writing to hello@byruwa.co.
This site uses minimal cookies, set by Cloudflare for security and performance. We do not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics that profile you across sites.
Under the Australian Privacy Act, you can ask to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you. Write to hello@byruwa.co and we will respond within thirty days. If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, you can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
If we update this page, we'll change the date at the top. Any meaningful change will be flagged to active members by email.
